General information

Public Joint Stock Company “Ukrtransnafta” was created in 2001 on the basis of State-Owned Joint Stock Company «Main Pipelines «Druzhba» and State-Owned Joint Stock Company «Prydniprovski Main Pipelines” (which are the Company’s branches at present) for the purpose of optimizing the operation of Ukraine’s oil transportation system and implementing a uniform policy in this field.
In 2007, a branch styled “Pivdenni Main Pipelines” were created within the Company by a resolution of the Shareholders of Open Joint Stock Company “Ukrtransnafta” dated August 10, 2007.

In connection with bringing the Articles of Association and the internal documents of Open Joint Stock Company “Ukrtransnafta” in accordance with the provisions of Joint Stock Companies Act of Ukraine No. 514-VI dated September 17, 2008, the Company was renamed to Public Joint Stock Company “Ukrtransnafta” (abbreviated name: PJSC ”Ukrtransnafta”) on June 10, 2011.
National Joint-Stock Company “Naftogaz of Ukraine” is the founder and sole shareholder of the Company.
The following branches are parts of PJSC ”Ukrtransnafta”: «Main Pipelines «Druzhba», «Prydniprovski Main Pipelines”, and “Pivdenni Main Pipelines”.

Strategic Lines of development:
  • increase in the oil transportation through the main oil pipelines;
  • increase in the oil transportation through the main oil pipelines;
  • ensuring both a reliable and uninterrupted oil transportation to the Ukrainian oil processing companies and the transit thereof to the European consumers;
  • diversification of the sources and routes of supplying oil to Ukraine and the transit thereof across the Ukrainian territory for the purpose of enhancing the State’s energy security;
  • compliance with the best quality standards of the oil transportation through the territory of Ukraine;
  • ensuring a reliable functioning and a complex development of promising investment projects.
History

1960-1970

The construction of oil pipelines in Ukraine began in the ‘60s of the twentieth century. The first Ukrainian oil pipeline Dolyna – Drohobych which was 58.4 km long was built in 1962 for the transportation of oil to the Drohobych Oil Processing Plant.

1970-1980

The oil pipeline was intended for the transportation of the Tartar, Bashkir and West Siberian oil blend for the export to Hungary and former Czechoslovakia and for loading oil in Brody to the railway transport for the export through the oil transshipment facilities in Odesa and Reni.

1980-1990

In 1985, the second line of the Tykhoretsk – Lysychansk Oil Pipe Line was commissioned. It has the diameter of 720 mm and runs for 185 km in the territory of Ukraine. The total capacity of these pipelines from Lysychansk to Tykhoretsk with four oil pumping stations (two of which are located in the territory of Ukraine) was 34 million tons per year.

1990-2002

For the purpose of diversifying the oil supply to the Ukrainian oil processing plants (OPP) and extending the transit possibilities of Ukraine, a feasibility study of the construction of an oil transshipment facility (OTF).

2002-Present time

The Odesa – Brody Oil Pipeline was started up (reverse pumping) in 2002. The oil pipeline having the value of UAH 550 million was constructed from 1996 to 2001. It was planned to use it for the transit of Caspian oil to the East and Central European countries passing Russia by.
